Guernsey is one of the Channel Islands, which represent the last remnants of the medieval Dukedom of Normandy. It is a British Crown Dependency and not technically part of the United Kingdom. |
Racing is held on beaches, as the small island has no permanent race track facilities. |
Races at Vazon Bay are organized and officiated by the Guernsey Motor Cycle & Car Club. |
Racing has to start in mid morning and move along quickly, because by late afternoon, the incoming tide floods the entire track. |
The motorcycles also race during the events, but they used a different course that features both right and left hand turns and a small jump. |
