The track is named Bakersfield Speedway, but it is actually located in nearby Oildale, California.

This is the main .255 mile dirt oval. You can also see the smaller 1/8th mile inner dirt oval in the infield. At one time there was a paved oval, and also a dirt figure-8.

The facility has had many different names. It has also been known as Oildale Speedway, Oil Bowl Speedway, Bakersfield Speedbowl, Bakersfield Thunderbowl, and Hawks Brothers Speedway.

Bill Vukovich won the first race there on May 5, 1946. Stock cars highlight the weekly Saturday night shows.

USAC Midgets make occasional appearances.
