Racing at the Shelby County Fair dates back to the 1930s.

The old wooden grandstands burned down on May 19, 2012. These aluminum seats were in place for the fair less than two months later.

You can see a bigger track encircling the .265 mile dirt oval. It is not clear if the outer track was the same one that hosted sprint car racing in the 1930s.

MTQMRL Three-Quarter Midgets were the only class racing on this fair date.

It was 100 degrees and dusty. After the feature, several drivers were overcome by the heat, and the races scheduled for the following day at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds were postponed, as it was supposed to be even hotter.
