Ford Field is a stadium located in downtown Detroit. It is located right next to Comerica Park, the home of the MLB Detroit Tigers.

Ford Field opened in 2002, as the new home of the NFL Detroit Lions, who had been playing in the Pontiac Silverdome since 1975. It can seat up to 78,000 fans.

Democross stock car racing first came to Ford Field in 2008 as an added attraction to the Monster Jam show.

The track was a 1/5 mile oval, with two mild jumps on either straightaway. These pictures are from my 2010 visit.

There were three races: Democross, a Trailer Race, and one for UTVs.

I have also been to Ford Field for an NCAA college football bowl game between Rutgers and North Carolina. The Monster Trucks and Democross racing far outdrew the football game.

Comments:

Don Salzer: To me this is mickey mouse racing (but racing nonetheless) wheras supercross there is real racing.
