Carolina Speedway opened in 1961.

It is located in Gastonia, which was named for William Gaston. The track was called Gaston Speedway at one time.

In 2016, a smaller track was added in the infield of the main dirt oval speedway.

The track is completely inside the main oval. They do not share a frontstretch as is often the case with inner oval tracks.

Mini Late Models are the featured division. All spectators watch from the infield, as the main grandstands are not open for the Mini Late Model races.
