Lake Algonquin is located west of Wells in Hamilton County, NY. Its water comes primarily from the Sacandaga River.

The Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club uses the lake for winter ice racing. The cameras always come out when the Supermodified Open class takes to the track.

AMEC has a number of stock/sports car classes as well.

Lake Algonquin is always the first lake to freeze with enough ice to safely hold winter racing. Thus, AMEC usually races at this location more than any other in a season.

Street legal classes are the most popular for competitors. But make no mistake, this is true wheel-to-wheel racing.
