Lake Algonquin is located west of Wells in Hamilton County, NY. Its water comes primarily from the Sacandaga River. |
The Adirondack Motor Enthusiast Club uses the lake for winter ice racing. The cameras always come out when the Supermodified Open class takes to the track. |
AMEC has a number of stock/sports car classes as well. |
Lake Algonquin is always the first lake to freeze with enough ice to safely hold winter racing. Thus, AMEC usually races at this location more than any other in a season. |
Street legal classes are the most popular for competitors. But make no mistake, this is true wheel-to-wheel racing. |
