The Mid-Hudson Civic Center opened in the 1970s. It consists of Mair Hall and the McCann Ice Arena.

After attempting indoor racing in Peekskill the previous winter, the Micro Stocks tried again in 1996 in Poughkeepsie.

It was an odd setup. The permanent seating was all retracted to allow for room to set up a race track, and spectators sat on bleachers that were set up on the stage.

During warmups, the Micro Stocks set off the smoke alarm, disrupting the youth hockey game being played across the hall in the ice arena.

Comments:

Jason Bittner: That track looked like it was way too small.
