 Mahoning Valley Speedway opened as a dirt track in 1957. After being closed for a number of years, the current paved track opened in 1970. |

 The track is more circular than oval, and has been long been nicknamed "The Saucer." |

 Many top open cockpit divisions have raced at the track, including SMRC Midgets, USAC SpeedSTRs, and the ATQMRA Three Quarter Midgets, shown in this picture. |

 The first incarnation of the paved track lasted from 1970 until early in 1977 when the track closed in May. |
|
 The track was refurbished by former driver Ward Crozier, and reopened in 1987 after nearby Dorney Park Speedway closed at the end of the 1986 season. |

 Modifieds and Late Models have been the headline classes since the track reopened. The formula has been successful, as the track draws good crowds weekly. |
